PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the portability and grip performance of a camera. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a camera body 2 having a grip part G on the side face 4d, a release button 11 arranged on the upper surface side, and a sliding member 10 arranged on the side face 4d and with a strap attaching hole part 12, and the sliding member 10 functions also as an operating member for switching the on/off state of a power source, and the sliding member 10 is made movable between a 1st position where the hole part 12 is positioned at the nearly longitudinal center of the side face 4d and the power source is turned off and a 2nd position which is deviated from the 1st position in the longitudinal direction of the side face 4d and where the power source is turned on.
