PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery wherein the peripheral fringe of a jacket member is thermally fused and an internal pressure rise can be dissolved without deteriorating flexibility of a thermally fusing machine. SOLUTION: This secondary battery is equipped with a power generating element having electrode plates laminated through separators, jacket members 106, 107 to seal the power generating elements by housing them, an electrode terminal 104 connected to the electrode plates and led out from the jacket members 106, 107, and a seal member 108a intervening between the jacket members 106, 107 and the electrode terminal 104. A taper part 109 continuously becoming thick toward the outside of the battery from the inside of the battery is formed on the seal member 108a, and the thickness of the outside of the battery is relatively thicker than the thickness of the inside of the battery.
