PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically perform channel switching, at any arbitrary point of time during a sleep timer operation. SOLUTION: In a television apparatus 100 comprising a function for automatically turning off a power source after the lapse of a preset sleep timer time, when the channel key of a remote controller R is depressed within a fixed time after the sleep timer time is set by the remote controller R, a setting picture for setting a switching time until being switched to a channel corresponding to that channel key is displayed on a monitor 5. When the switching time is set on this setting picture, until the lapse of the sleep timer time, the channel is automatically switched at a point of time reaching the set switching time.
