PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent electron emission performance of a field emission type electron source from being deteriorated with time by reducing the quantity of gas emitted from a control electrode or the like when a conductive film for improving a withstand voltage characteristic is formed by electromagnetic-wave heating. SOLUTION: This cathode-ray tube includes: an envelope having a neck part 2A; a phosphor screen; an inside conductive film; an electron gun 5 having an electron emission source having a cold cathode, a positive electrode 56, a plurality of control electrodes 54 and 55 and insulating support bodies 57; conductive ribbons 8; and conductive films 9 formed in areas facing the conductive ribbons 8 on the inside wall of the neck part 2A. The cathode-ray tube is so structured that the conductive ribbon 8 has a support body coating part in contact with the upper surface of the insulating support body 57, an electrode coating part in contact with the control electrode 55 and a connection part for connecting the support body coating part to the electrode coating part; the electrode coating part has a welding part; and the minimum area of the ribbon cross section between the support body coating part and the welding part is smaller than the maximum area of the ribbon cross section in the support body coating part.
