PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and a system starting method, capable of speeding up system starting. SOLUTION: A drive retrieval processing means 3 included in a kernel 2 of an operating system 1 refers to an initialization table 4 defined with a retrieval number of drives, holds the retrieval number of the drives to retrieval of only a drive necessary for operation of a system that is a starting target, and ends drive retrieval in time of the system starting.
