PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for a camera having a switching mechanism that eliminates the need to make the shape of two contact strip members complicated or the need to make the shape of a pressurizing part of a drive member complicated in order to prevent chattering. SOLUTION: A front blade drive member 9 is provided with a projection 9d. A cushioning member 10 is attached to the front blade drive member 9. At the final stage of the photographing operation, the front blade drive member 9 first presses a contact piece member 7 only by the projection 9d. Next, when the contact piece member 7 is pressed only by the cushioning member 10, the contact 7a of the contact piece member 7 is brought into contact with the contact part 8a of the contact piece member 8, and the operation of a flash circuit is started.
