PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus which is capable of producing a coated article having constant coating film thickness and constant quality with a simple structure over the whole speed range even if the coating speed of a coating agent with high viscosity and fast dryness is changed. SOLUTION: In the coating apparatus in which the form roller 1 and the leveling roller 6 are installed face to face and which amount-adjusts the coating agent adhering to the form roller with the leveling roller and supplies the amount-adjusted coating agent 4 to the side of the cylinder 3, the leveling roller can be driven independently and the rotation rate of the leveling roller can be freely changed to the form roller.
