<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having excellent charge and discharge cycle characteristics and a high charge voltage of 4.4 to 4.6 V based on lithium. <P>SOLUTION: In this nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery equipped with a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte having a nonaqueous solvent and electrolyte salt, the positive electrode active material is a mixture of lithium cobalt composite oxide containing both zirconium and magnesium in LiCoO<SB>2</SB>, and lithium manganese nickel composite oxide having a layer structure and containing at least both manganese and nickel, the potential of the positive electrode active material is 4.4 to 4.6 V based on lithium, and at least one aromatic compound selected from a group comprising at least a toluene derivative, an anisole derivative, biphenyl, cyclohexylbenzene, tert-butyl benzene, tert-amyl benzene, and diphenyl ether is contained in the nonaqueous electrolyte. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
