IMAGE REFERENCING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CLASSIFYING AND SEARCHING FOR IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image referencing apparatus and a method for classifying and searching for images making it possible to perform classification and searches of high objectivity and compatibility in such a way as to reduce human workload and facilitate access to desired images.

SOLUTION: SOM is repeatedly performed wherein a plurality of DICOM original images are used as input values and self-mapping of an anatomical structure as the phase characteristic of each DICOM original image is carried out through predetermined weighting. In this way, the DICOM original images are classified using an arrangement having such a characteristic as arranging the images in such a manner that the more closely the phase structures of anatomical structure information resemble each other, the more closely they are positioned to one another. Also, a search space is organized using a digest image that corresponds to each output unit available through SOM, and searches for the DICOM original images using the digest image are conducted.
