<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damage to a recording head and jamming of a recording medium, even if the recording medium is lifted. <P>SOLUTION: This inkjet printer comprises: a platen for supporting the recording medium; the recording head for ejecting ink while performing scanning on the recording medium which is supported on the platen; at least one carrying roller which is arranged on the upstream side of the platen in a carrying direction so as to carry the recording medium in a direction orthogonal to a scanning direction; at least one nip roller which is arranged in an upper position so as to pair each of the carrying rollers, and which presses the recording medium against the carrying roller; a switching mechanism for switching between the presence and absence of the pressing of the recording medium against carrying roller by the nip roller; a lift detector for detecting the lift of the recording medium from on the platen; and a control part for controlling the switching mechanism on the basis of the result of detection by the lift detector. When the lift detector detects the lift of the recording medium, the control part controls the switching mechanism, and releases the pressing of the recording medium against the carrying roller by the nip roller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
