<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform optimum aeration according to the water level and quality of sewage to be treated, in the aeration part of a sewage treatment apparatus using microorganisms. <P>SOLUTION: The sewage treatment apparatus comprises an anaerobic treatment tank 1 which applies the action of microorganisms to sewage influent 28 to perform an anaerobic treatment for decomposing the sewage influent 28, an aeration tank 2 which applies the action of microorganisms to treated sewage 29 treated in the anaerobic treatment tank 1, under an oxygen supply condition to decompose the treated sewage 29, and a solid-liquid separation tank 3 which separates treated sewage 30 treated in the aeration tank 2 into treated sludge 32 and treated water 33.
