PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an actuator arm which is easily and inexpensively manufactured without using a special processing system, surely and exactly supports a recording head and is strong against vibration or an external impact. SOLUTION: A material plate having a tip arm part 40 to which a head is attached and a base edge bearing part having a rotational axis is formed by punching molding the approximate shape of the material plate with a press die in a blank molding process first. In addition, thickness dimensions of the base edge bearing part and the tip arm part 40 of the material plate are formed by the press die, at least one step surface with different thickness dimension from that of the tip arm part 40 and a contact surface consisting of a recessed groove or projection are formed in the base edge bearing part, in a molding process, punching molding is performed with the press molding on the basis of the step surface, in an assembly process, a plurality of base plates are positioned on the basis of the contact surface and fixed, thus, the base plates are constituted of a single member by a series of press processing.
