PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized loading mechanism of simple configuration. SOLUTION: The recording medium loading apparatus is equipped with a casing 2 having a connector 18 connected to a cartridge 1, a slide member 6 which is disposed movably in a loading direction and draws the cartridge 1, a driving motor 13, and a driving force transmission mechanism which is interposed between the driving motor 13 and the slide member 6, converts the rotating force of the driving motor 13 to a linear motion and transmits the same to the slide member 6. The driving force transmission mechanism is configured to have a rotary plate 17 which is rotated by the driving motor 13, a sliding projection 17b which is disposed at the rotary plate 17, and a sliding groove 6d which is formed at the slide member 6 so as to extend in a direction orthogonal to the loading direction and with which the sliding projection 17b is engaged.
