PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to provide an air cleaner case on an upper surface of an engine, enlarge filter area of a filter, reduce passage resistance of intake air taken from an inlet side intake air passage, and improve filter efficiency while securing sufficient space for pedestrian protection. SOLUTION: In this intake system structure for the engine, a first case and a second case of an air cleaner case are divided in a left and right direction of a vehicle, a mating surface part of the first case and the second case is provided at an obliquely upper part of a transmission, bulging parts extending downward from an upper end of a cylinder head cover of the engine are provided on a bottom surface of the first case and the bottom surface of the second case, an inlet side opening part is provided on a bottom surface of the bulging part of the first case side, a filter extending in a vertical direction along the mating surface part is obliquely provided, an expansion part is formed with continuing the bulging part on the second case side, and the second case expansion part is provided on an upper surface of the cylinder cover.
