PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade coating method in which a coating solution layer having an excellent surface property can be formed in a short cycle time of coating. SOLUTION: The blade coating method comprises superposing a mask 25 having an opening 27 on a flat substrate D, supplying a coating solution 49 on the mask 25, applying the coating solution 49 on the mask 25 by a blade 51 that is relatively moved above and to the mask 25, and forming a coating solution layer corresponding to the opening 27 of the mask 25 on the flat substrate D, wherein the coating solution 49 is substantially continuously discharged from a coating solution-discharging outlet 41 which is provided on at least one side of the opening 27 and discharges the coating solution 49 on the mask 25.
