<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sipe used in a mold for vulcanizing a tire which can position a sipe main body accurately in a short time and can effectively prevent a product defect after casting and a method for producing the mold using the sipe. <P>SOLUTION: The sipe main body 1 is composed of a casting part 1a which is cast into the mold during casting and a product part 1b protruding from the profile surface of the mold. A positioning part 5 protruding in the shape of a wedge toward the tip of the sipe main body 1 is formed integrally on the curved surface of the product part 1b formed in the shape of a sword. The height H of the positioning part 5 is preferably at least 1 mm. When it is below 1 mm, the effect of positioning is reduced.
