<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method recovering valuables from a lithium battery containing a lithium transition metal oxide. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium battery treatment method is applied to the treatment of the lithium battery having a positive electrode unit having a positive electrode material containing a positive active material essentially comprising the lithium transition metal oxide on a current collector. The treatment method contains a process separating the positive electrode unit from the lithium battery, a process separating the positive electrode material from the positive electrode unit, a process heating the positive electrode material together with 0.01-12 N sulfuric acid, and a process recovering insolubles after sulfuric acid heating treatment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
