PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous material which has fine pores and is produced from an emulsion of resin dispersion, a resin liquid polymer, or the like, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This porous material is characterized by foaming an emulsion of resin dispersion or a resin liquid polymer and then solidifying the foamed product to give an apparent specific gravity of≤0.12 g/cm3 and a pore diameter of≤50μm.
