PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress memory capacitance required for storing pixel data, and to execute rearrangement operation of pixel data with a small memory access amount. SOLUTION: In an image reading apparatus of the present invention, pixel signals output from first, second and third shift registers are converted into pixel data by an analog front end IC, and the pixel data are made into serial data stream of a predetermined pattern and outputted. Furthermore, in an address setting unit 157, addition/subtraction of an initial value is repeated in accordance with the output pattern of the pixel data from the analog front end IC, thereby calculating a pixel position of each of pixel data, and a memory address corresponding to the pixel position is set to an address register RR as a memory address of the destination to write the pixel data.
