PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detector, capable of specifying an exact position of an ultrasonic testing section in relation to an object to be tested, when scanning the ultrasonic testing section on the surface of a suspected body on which the object to be tested is disposed. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic flaw detector 1 which tests a weld line (object to be tested), disposed in a pipe arrangement (suspected body) 2 non-destructively, comprises the ultrasonic testing section 4 which moves on the pipe arrangement 2, while emitting ultrasonic waves; and a position measuring section, which specifies the position of the ultrasonic testing section 4 in relation to the pipe arrangement 2. The position measuring section comprises: a light-emitting unit 10 having a light source 8, such as an LED or the like, for emitting radiation light; a light-receiving unit 13, having a one-dimensional position detecting element (light-receiving element) 12 for detecting the radiation light from the light source 8; and an adjusting section 15 which is disposed on an optical path heading form the light source 8 to the position-detecting element 12 and controls reflection light at the surface 2A of the pipe arrangement 2, by varying the angle and orientation of radiation beam emitted from the light source 8.
