PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling toy eliminating the need for electrical energy, and enjoyed by freely selecting a self-traveling mode or a manual traveling mode. SOLUTION: The traveling toy A includes a coil spring unit 5 of pull back type for driving drive wheels 4, the drive wheels 4 and the coil spring unit 5 are engaged by a relay gear 16, the relay gear 16 is disposed so as to be slid in the axial direction. When the relay gear 16 is slid to one side, the drive wheels 4 are engaged with the coil spring unit 5, and when the relay gear is slid to the other side, the drive wheels 4 and the coil spring unit 5 are disengaged from each other.
