PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extending/contracting operation device excellent in operation stability in length adjustment or operation of an operated member, and applicable to a three-pipe device. SOLUTION: The extending/contracting operation device has a first holder 43 as a first operating force transmission means 40, regulates movement of the first holder 43 into its tip end side with a release rod 46 at a position just before an operation lever 5 fully opens, and makes a first switching member 44 turn via lengthwise movement of a connection rod 45 between the position just before the operation lever 5 fully opens and a fully open position thereof so that a first catching parts 52, 51 are detachable from each other.
