<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop power generation of a fuel cell by creating a hydrogen atmosphere around both of a cathode and an anode, and to prevent the temperature of a reformer from abnormally rising at the time when power generation stops. <P>SOLUTION: After stopping supply of an oxidizer contained gas to a cathode while continuing supply of a hydrogen contained gas to an anode, the output of a fuel cell stack 1 is continuously consumed in an external load 12 through a power converter 11, until the output voltage of the fuel cell stack 1 reaches an operable lower limit voltage value of the power converter 11 having a constant-current operation function to maintain the output current of the fuel cell stack 1 at a constant value. When the output voltage of the fuel cell stack 1 drops down to a value less than the operable lower limit voltage value, the output of the fuel cell stack 1 is connected to a short-circuiting resistor 14. After that, at the point of time when the output voltage of the fuel cell stack 1 reaches almost zero, a reformer 2 is stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
