摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phage/virus inactivator comprising anatase-type titanium oxide containing copper effective for phage/virus inactivation, and a water-soluble paint using the same. SOLUTION: The phage/virus inactivator comprises the anatase-type titanium oxide containing copper, wherein the mass% ratio of CuO/TiO<SB>2</SB>ranges from 1.0 to 3.5 and the relative phage titer after an irradiation with an ultraviolet intensity of 10μW/cm<SP>2</SP>for 60 min is from 1×10<SP>-2</SP>to 1×10<SP>-5</SP>. The water-soluble paint contains a paint binder and the phage/virus inactivator. The inactivator is capable of inactivating the phage/virus under a fluorescent lamp weakly emitting an ultraviolet radiation. Through painting, the water-soluble paint exerts an excellent effect in various applications where sanitary environments are required, e. g. suppresses viral growth in an indoor environment.
