PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more efficiently dispose a retracting lens and other members associated with the lens. SOLUTION: The collapsible lens barrel has a plurality of lens groups on the subject side rather than on the shutter (diaphragm) S side. When the lens barrel is collapsed, a part of the plurality of lens groups is disposed parallel to the optical axis of at least a part of the other lens groups. When the lens barrel is collapsed, a part of the plurality of lens groups located on the subject side rather than on the diaphragm side is disposed parallel to the optical axis of at least a part of the other lens groups.
