PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink leakage detector which can detect ink leakage regardless of color or dielectricity of ink. SOLUTION: A solid 1 for detection composed of styrene foam (foaming polystyrene) is arranged at a place for detecting ink leakage and a microswitch 2 is arranged thereon. Normally, a contact 2a touches the upper surface of the solid 1 for detection to bring the microswitch 2 into on state. When solvent based ink 4 leaks due to some trouble and touches the solid 1 for detection, the solid 1 for detection is dissolved by the solvent based ink 4 and its height decreases. Consequently, the contact 2a separates from the upper surface of the solid 1 for detection to bring the microswitch 2 into off state. When a control section 3 recognizes the fact that the microswitch 2 has changed from on state to off state, a decision is made that ink leakage has occurred. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
