PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To self-diagnose failure of each key of pressing type and rotational operation type of a cellular phone. SOLUTION: The self-diagnostic program stores samples of vibration parameters corresponding to air vibration (operation sound) detected by a microphone part 38, in operation of each key, and mechanical vibration transmitted through a casing, a substrate or the like and detected by the microphone part 38 in a ROM 6. A control part 5 detects, upon detection of a vibration generated by key operation by the microphone part 38, a sample of vibration parameter approximate to a vibration parameter corresponding to this vibration from the ROM 6 to estimate the key operated. The control part 5 specifies the key operated based on an electric signal generated by the key operation. When the key cannot be specified even though the key is estimated, failure of the key concerned is self-diagnosed since this means that no electric signal by the operation of the key is generated in spite of the key operation.
