PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably provide a rice cooking property improving effect by using superheated steam. SOLUTION: This rice cooker is provided with a pot, a pot heating means heating the pot, a pot temperature detecting means detecting the temperature of the pot, a cooking rice amount determination means determining the amount of the rice material to be cooked in the pot, a lid covering the upper face opening part of the pot, a steam generating means generating steam to be supplied to the rice material to be cooked in the pot, and a steam heating means heating the steam generated from the steam generating means. The steam generating means comprises a water vessel for putting water for generating the steam, and a second heating means heating the water vessel, the second heating means is provided with a heating surface constituted into a tapered state, and the water vessel is provided with an inclined part along the taper of the second heating means. Even if foreign matters such as rice grains fall, this constitution can discharge the foreign matters from a hole in the central part and prevent the intervention of the foreign matters between the heating means and the water vessel so as to stably generate the steam and stably generate the superheated steam.
