<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oligomerization catalyst for olefin having excellent effect that a reaction progresses at high activity in the catalyst for making the olefin, for example, such as ethylene to an oligomer and in the oligomerization catalyst for the olefin containing at least tantalum compound, a nitrogen-containing compound and a reducing agent, and an oligomer production method for olefin using the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The oligomerization catalyst for the olefin contains at least the tantalum compound, the nitrogen-containing compound and the reducing agent. As the tantalum compound, the compound represented by formula (1): [TaX<SB>5-l-m</SB>Y<SB>1</SB>Z<SB>n</SB>]<SB>0</SB>is preferable, wherein X represents a halogen atom, Y represents an anionic ligand, Z represents a neutral ligand, l represents an integer of 0-5, m represents an integer of 0-5, n represents an integer of 0 or higher and o represents an integer of 1 or higher, and 1+m≤5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
