<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which always stably provides appropriate transfer output even when abnormality occurs in the process of transfer output control. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; a charging means; an exposure means; a developing means; and a transfer means, and the image forming apparatus further includes: a 1st transfer output means to obtain a 1st transfer output value based on the optical density of a toner patch image on the intermediate transfer body; a 2nd transfer output means to obtain a 2nd transfer output value based on a look-up table where relation between information related to the transfer output and the transfer output is obtained beforehand; and a control means to control the 1st transfer output means and the 2nd transfer output means. The control means controls the transfer output so that the obtained 2nd transfer output value may be set as a final transfer output value when a difference between the obtained 1st transfer output value and the obtained 2nd transfer output value exceeds a predetermined range, and the obtained 1st transfer output value may be set as the final transfer output value when the difference does not exceed the predetermined range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
