<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Ce activated rare earth aluminate type phosphor which shows a yellowish emission improved in emission luminance and luminescent color and a luminous element using the phosphor. <P>SOLUTION: The Ce activated rare earth aluminate type phosphor has a composition shown by (Ln<SB>1-x-y-z</SB>Ce<SB>x</SB>Tb<SB>y</SB>M<SB>z</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-n(Al<SB>1-p-q</SB>Ga<SB>p</SB>B<SB>q</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-mX and containing carbon (C). (wherein Ln represents one of rare earth elements consisting of Y, La, Gd and Lu; M represents one of elements comprising Eu, Sm, Tm, Pr, Mn and Cr; X represents a halogen element; n, m, x, y, z, p and q are respectively 1.8≤n≤1.5, 0≤m≤5×10<SP>-2</SP>, 5×10<SP>-3</SP>≤x≤2×10<SP>-1</SP>, 0≤y≤0.6, 0≤z≤0.1, 0≤p≤0.6 and 0≤q≤0.05). And the luminous element comprises a light source for excitation having the peak wave length of its emissiion spectrum in a near ultraviolet to blue color wave length region and the phosphor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
