<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a novolac type phenol resin having a small content of low-nuclear components such as unreacted phenols and dinuclear components can be efficiently and easily produced. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing the novolac type phenol resin comprises the steps of (a) carrying out a condensation reaction of phenols and aldehydes and (c) adding, after the process (a), a low-boiling point compound having a boiling point lower than the temperature of the reaction system and removing a low-nuclear component of the novolac type phenol resin, while keeping the temperature of the reaction system at 170-250°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
