<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of preventing luminance irregularity of a light guide plate from occurring by reducing luminous energy leaked from a slit part of an intermediate holding member arranged in a bent part or the like of a linear light source installed along a side of the light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: This lighting system is provided with: the light guide plate; a fluorescent tube 5 installed along the side of the light guide plate; and the intermediate holding member 7 arranged in the bent part of the fluorescent tube 5. The intermediate holding member 7 includes a through-hole part 7a penetrating the fluorescent tube 5 and a slit part 7b for fitting the fluorescent tube 5 into the through-hole part 7a.
