PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating photoelectric sensor device. SOLUTION: The sensor device comprises a first module emitting pulsed light, a second module receiving and converting light, and a third module judging and/or processing level. The method comprises a step of sending periodically light pulses from the first module toward the second module, a step of producing an analog potential signal at the second module and transmitting the signal to the third module, and a step of processing the analog signal at the third module and providing an evaluation or control information or signal depending on processing results, along with comprising a step, before transmission to the third module, of inverting the analog signal produced by the second module and shifting or offsetting the inverted signal, and a step, at the third module, of measuring the inverted and shifted analog signal between two successive light pulses and processing the measured value(s).
