PORPHYRIN COMPOUND FOR TUMOR IMAGING AND PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dual function agents(PET(positron emission tomography) imaging and PDT(photodynamic therapy)) affording the potential for diagnostic body scan followed by targeted therapy. SOLUTION: A first report on the synthesis of certain124I-labelled photosensitizers related to chlorines and bacteriochlorines with long wavelength absorption in the range of 660-800 nm is provided.
