PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cutting device and method for a coil capable of reducing man-hours to improve working efficiency. SOLUTION: This cutting device 21 provides a long groove or a long hole in a wire 8 by cutting. The cutting device 21 is provided with a cutting blade 22 provided on a machining surface side of the wire 8 and a wire holding part 24 for holding the wire 8 to be delivered in the longitudinal direction, while receiving cutting reaction generated in the wire 8 by cutting force of the cutting blade 22. As a result, the cutting is made possible by the cutting blade 22, while delivering the wire 8 from a drum 17, for instance, and the cutting is made possible by the cutting blade 22, while integrally moving the wire holding part 24 and the cutting blade 22 to the wire 8.
