PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a milling tool excellent in operability, chip discharging property and cutter body strength and a throw-away insert to be used in the tool. SOLUTION: This tool is provided with the substantially polygonal flat plate shaped throw-away insert 1 formed with a cutting edge 5 in an intersecting ridge line of a cutting face (upper face 2) and a flank (side face 4), and a cutter body 11 provided with an insert mounting seat 14 for mounting the throw-away insert 1 at a distal end. The throw-away insert 1 is attachably/detachably mounted in the insert mounting seat 14. On the side face 4 of the throw-away insert 1, a recessed part 7 having an inclined face 7a inclined so that an angleθformed with a lower face 3 may be an acute angle is formed.
