PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regeneration method of an ammonia and/or ammonium ion absorbent, wherein NH<SB>3</SB>and/or NH<SB>4</SB>ion can be highly effectively removed from an exhaust water or an exhaust gas, and an excellent practical performance and economical performance can be displayed. SOLUTION: NH<SB>3</SB>and/or NH<SB>4</SB>ion are absorbed by the NH<SB>3</SB>and/or NH<SB>4</SB>ion absorbent composed of an amorphous material A, which is obtained by heating trimagnesium phosphate octahydrate salt Mg<SB>3</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>8H<SB>2</SB>O, to form magnesium ammonium phosphate hexahydrate salt MgNH<SB>4</SB>PO<SB>4</SB>6H<SB>2</SB>O. MgNH<SB>4</SB>PO<SB>4</SB>6H<SB>2</SB>O is heated to release NH<SB>3</SB>and form an amorphous material B. While adding MgO to this amorphous material B, mechanical energy is added and chemical reaction is advanced. Therefore, the amorphous material B is converted to trimagnesium phosphate octahydrate salt Mg<SB>3</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>8H<SB>2</SB>O, which is heated to be regenerated to the absorbent composed of the amorphous material A.
