PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting apparatus of columnar materials capable of continuously sorting the columnar materials without stopping the rotation of a rotary drum to simply take out the columnar materials having a prescribed length or below. SOLUTION: The sorting apparatus of the columnar materials is equipped with a rotary drum 2 having recessed parts provided to its inner peripheral surface, almost horizontally provided in a freely rotatable manner and fitting the columnar materials having a prescribed length or below in the recessed parts to scoop up them by rotation, a rotary means 3 for rotating the rotary drum 2, the receiving part 4 installed in the rotary drum 2 and having an opening 22, which receives the columnar materials scooped up to fall, provided to its upper part, and discharging the columnar materials from its bottom part and a belt conveyor 5 for feeding out the columnar materials discharged from the receiving part 4 to the outside of the rotary drum 2.
