PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an output image from deteriorating in image quality in a monochromatic image constituting the output image due to position shift even when the output image having a long image size in a sub-scanning direction is formed.
SOLUTION: In a color printer, an image formation control section 38 determines the quantity of a position shift among toner images of Y, M, C, and K forming the output image based upon the position detection signal from a registration control sensor 44, and corrects a position shift of an image formation unit causing a position shift of >10 μm in stages or continuously when the position shift of >10 μm occurs between respective toner images. Consequently, a toner image formed by a prescribed image forming unit when the position shift of the prescribed image formation unit is corrected can be corrected gradually in the horizontal scanning direction or the sub-scanning direction to be close to other toner images, so a trace of position shift correction formed on the output image can be made inconspicuous.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
