PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of allowing a user to understand whether a record medium is in write-in permitted state or inhibited state, even when the power switch of the digital camera is turned off. SOLUTION: The digital camera determines whether a record medium is in a write-in permitted state or an inhibited state, based on a status of a mechanical switch arranged at the record medium. If it is in write-in permitted state, the number of remaining photography enable pieces is displayed. If it is in write-in inhibited state, an alarm is issued in place of the number of remaining photography enable pieces.
