PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus, capable of automatically determining colors efficiently, making the calculation quantity reduced by improving a method of setting color determination boundary lines equivalent to thresholds for color determination. SOLUTION: In the color determining apparatus, a hue plane on which a unit data forming determination target data are mapped are segmented into partial regions mR-T by the color determination boundary lines (d), and color determination is performed, on the basis of the number of unit data belonging to each of the partial regions. In this apparatus, the inclination of the color boundary lines are set as rational numbers. For example, affine transformation etc. is applied to the hue plane, to allow the color determination boundary lines (d) to match the axes of the hue plane, thereby reducing the calculated quantity in the determination processing for determining as to the partial region to which the unit data belongs to.
