PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a luminance correction method in which screen luminance of the display device is efficiently made uniform. SOLUTION: An LCD1 is provided with a display section 11 which is made of a plurality of display pixels 110, a storage section 12 which stores the correction value to correct the luminance of video signals to be inputted into the display section 11 and a correcting section 14 which conducts luminance correction of the video signals based on the correction value stored in the storage section 12. The correction value is the correction value being set for every block so that the luminance value of the light beams for every prescribed block, which is obtained by dividing the display section 11, is made uniform. The storage section 12 stores the correction value based on white color light luminance and the correction value based on black color light luminance. The correcting section 14 computes an approximation equation using the correction value based on white color light luminance and the correction value based on black color light luminance stored in the storage section 12 and conducts luminance correction of the video signals using the computed approximation equation so as to output other gradation light beams from the display section 11.
