<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the positions of front and rear ends of vehicles traveling at night by using only the intensity changes of pixel points, and remove incorrect detection of the intensity changes related to the light of headlight reflected from the road surface, the light reflected from the bumper surface, and the light of the side light. <P>SOLUTION: Intensity levels are divided into two divisions of high and low levels. The intensity changes of the pixel points on scan lines are detected by the peak (the peak of trailing differential or that of rising differential) of the points where the intensity levels change from the high level to the low level or vice versa, which are once memorized as candidate points. The candidate points are discriminated and processed by the preset conditions, thereby obtaining a definite point and determining the definite point as the positions of the headlight and tail lamp. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
