<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for accurately performing the calculation of deviation between images and the image correction processing. <P>SOLUTION: A corresponding connection region selection processing performed to calculate deviation among a plurality of images is performed two or more times while a selection condition is changed. For example, the retrieval range is changed sequentially from wide setting to narrower setting, the number of kinds of feature amount information pieces of a comparison object is changed from a larger value to a smaller value, and the coincidence of the feature amount information pieces of the comparison object is changed from strict setting to rough setting. In the coarse control processing performed at the initial stage, even if displacement between two images is large, the corresponding connection region can be found. In the fine control processing performed in the latter half, the corresponding connection region selection processing is performed in a narrow range and under rough coincidence condition, so that the connection region having the correspondence can be efficiently extracted.
