<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal oxide filler having excellent film processability and sufficient mechanical strength and capable of obtaining a solid electrolyte composition with high ionic conductivity and cation transport number, and to provide a solid electrolyte composition containing the metal oxide filler and suitably used as an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery etc. <P>SOLUTION: In the metal oxide filler, [-B-O-] having an anion capture function and/or a structure having a repeat unit of [-B-O-Si-O-] is bonded to surface of a metal oxide particle by covalent bond.
