<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image failure even in case where there is a change in the quality of an intermediate transfer belt, a primary charging roller, or a developing sleeve, which is different from the qualities of the others. <P>SOLUTION: The surface quality of the entire area of the intermediate transfer belt is detected by a density sensor (optical sensor)(S1). A toner image is formed in the entire area of the intermediate transfer belt (S2), and the density of a toner image (surface quality) is detected (S3). In the case where there is no differences between the result of the detection of the surface quality of the belt and the result of the surface quality of the toner image (S4 and S5), regular image formation is permitted (S9). In the case where there is a difference in the result of the detection of at least the intermediate transfer belt or the toner image (S6, S7, and S8), image formation is carried out at a part where there is no changes in the quality of the intermediate transfer belt and at a part where there is no change in the quality of development, primary transfer, etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
