<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can sufficiently suppress filming upon exchanging an image carrier currently mounted in an image forming apparatus with a new one even when exchange cycles differ for the image carrier and for the developing unit. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with a control mode (step S6 to step S9) in which, when the current image carrier is exchanged with a new one (step 3), the toner currently housed in the developing unit is partially or wholly discharged from the developing unit while the current image carrier is mounted, and then a new toner is replenished to the developing unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
