PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reproducer and an image reproduction method capable of efficiently index heading by detecting the change of a scene, based on the average color of a frame. SOLUTION: When an image signal decoded from the image/voice decoder 14 is received, an average value calculator 31 calculates the average color of the target frame responding to a set period N (step ST11). A difference calculator 32 reads out an average color stored one before the target frame from the frame information storage 34, and calculates the difference. A point detecting element 33 judges whether the difference is more than a threshold M (step ST14). As a result of judgment, if it is judged more than the threshold M (Yes of step ST15), the point detecting element 33 stores the frame information in the frame information storage 34 (step ST16).
