PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily capture a high dynamic range image by an operator, by virtue of the operator's specifying the display mode of the image and changing the control method of the dynamic range for each display mode, without using an expensive display device corresponding to a high dynamic range image display. SOLUTION: When an operator specifies a mode for displaying the whole of a high dynamic range image by using an operation button 17, a dynamic range control unit 27 reads out data of the high dynamic range image to be displayed from a semiconductor memory 25, and controls the dynamic range after thinning out the pixel number to be corresponding to the display pixel number of a liquid crystal display monitor 16.
